Family says Hindu woman lured into marriage by Muslim man, coerced into conversion

On 11th March, the family was stunned to see their daughter’s photo with a young man wearing a mask on Instagram. Upon further investigation, the family traced her to Khairabad in Sitapur, where they found her at the house of a Muslim man named Hasrat. According to the victim's family, Hasrat and his family prevented them from meeting their daughter and threatened to kill them if they spoke out. The victim's father expressed concerns that his daughter’s life was in danger, fearing she might be sold. Alarmed by the situation, the family filed a complaint with the local police station against the accused. The police registered a case against Hasrat and his brother under relevant sections of the law. Speaking to the media, City Kotwal Amit Pratap Singh confirmed that a case had been registered against Hasrat and his brother, and investigations were underway.
