The man wrote his mobile number on a slip of paper, gave it to the girl, and told her to call him. Terrified, the girl ran home and reported the incident to her mother. Upon seeing the girl’s mother, the accused fled the scene. The next afternoon, while the minor girl and her sister were playing outside their house, the man returned and molested her again. He verbally abused her for not calling him. Scared, the girl raised an alarm and called her mother to the spot, at which point the accused fled again. According to the girl, the man had threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to the police. Hindu organisations like Vishva Hindu Parishad and Durga Vahini staged a protest against the incident. The victim’s father filed a police complaint at the Doiwala police station. The police took action, arrested the accused, and filed a case against him under the relevant sections of the law.
