Truck recovered in Kekri with one cow dead, other bovines injured and bleeding

Case Summary
In the Kekri region, villagers thwarted a major case of cow smuggling. Five smugglers were caught illegally transporting 30 bovines, three cows and 27 calves, in a truck in the forested area between Chavandia and Laxmipura. One cow was found dead, while others were bleeding and injured. The smugglers abandoned the truck and three motorcycles, escaping under the cover of darkness when confronted by the villagers. The police, led by Officer Omprakash, reached the scene and found the truck in poor condition, with no provisions for fodder, water, air, or light. The injured animals were handed over to the Gram Panchayat Padalia. A case has been registered against unknown cow smugglers, and police have launched an investigation to track them down. The deceased cow underwent post-mortem before being buried.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The cow is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. Often, cows are slaughtered by non-Hindu perpetrators as a mark of insult to the Hindu faith. There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter is used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef) and desecrate temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, there is a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus working as a motivating factor, however, in the absence of any concrete indication, this case is being categorised as Undecided. If more details emerge, it would be added to the Hate Crime Database.
