Hindu minor girl abducted by Muslim youth and his family; victim's family threatened for confronting the accused

Case Summary
In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, a Hindu minor girl was abducted from her home by a Muslim youth, Shadab, son of Gaffar. Reports indicate that his mother, Farzan, and his brother were also involved in the crime. According to the victim's father, on February 8, while he was at work, his three daughters were alone at home. Seizing the opportunity, Shadab and his mother forcibly took his eldest daughter away. The father stated that Shadab was known to him as they worked at the same place. When he later discovered the abduction and confronted Shadab and his family, they failed to provide a satisfactory response. Upon pressing further for his daughter's whereabouts, he was threatened by Shadab's mother and brother. Following this incident, anger spread among Hindu organisations, and they have demanded strict action in the matter.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
Since the victim in this case is a minor, there is a strong suspicion of grooming involved. Grooming is a phenomenon where Muslim men specifically target minor non-Muslim girls for sexual exploitation, abuse and rape. Though the report specifies that the father of the victim accused the perpetrator of kidnapping his minor daughter, there is no specific evidence of a pattern of victimisation of the Hindu minor by the perpetrator. Further, there is no indication from the parents of the minor that she was targeted for her religious identity. For these reasons, this case is being added to the 'undecided' database. It would be added to the 'hate crime' database if more information emerges.
