Cattle smuggling ring busted in Alwar, one Muslim cow smuggler arrested while three escape

Case Summary
In Alwar, Rajasthan, on receiving the information about the cow smugglers, head constable Ghanshyam Meena of the police station, who was on night patrol, tried to stop the cow smugglers near SMD intersection, but the cow smugglers started pelting stones and firing at the police and ran away. The police surrounded their vehicle but the four smugglers managed to run away. However, the driver Zubair Khan was arrested. The police freed the cattle and handed them over to the owners. According to media reports, the gang leader of this cow smuggling group was Arshad, along with his companions Atar alias Mittal, Jamshed Binjara and Arshad's nephew. These four members managed to run away from the police, however, the driver Zuber Khan was arrested by the police. The prime accused, Arshad had a history of criminal cases even in 2013, such as theft, robbery, dacoity, cow smuggling, firing and obstruction in government work. The police had arrested Arshad and other gangsters and sent them to jail. After coming out of jail, Arshad formed a gang and started committing crimes.

There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter is used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef) and desecrate temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, there is a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus working as a motivating factor, however, in the absence of any concrete indication, this case is being categorised as Undecided.
