Married Muslim man of Ujjain takes Hindu woman to Ajmer, rapes her and forces her to convert to Islam

Case Summary
In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a Muslim youth named Farzan Khan lured a Hindu girl and took her to Ajmer. The victim was a college student who lived in the Noorani Masjid street in the Nagjhiri area. Reportedly, she knew the accused for the last four years. She was approached by Farzan one day who confessed his love for her and proposed marriage. On October 27, 2023, Farzan called her near Aurobindo Hospital in Indore for a conversation. He took her to Ajmer that night where both stayed at a hotel near Delhi Gate. When the victim refused to have physical relations, Farzan threatened to kill her family and raped her. After this, Farzan took the victim to his in-laws' house in Rajgarh Biaora. There Farzan's wife and his father-in-law welcomed them. It was here that the victim found that Farzan was already married. Both pressurised the victim to convert to Islam and marry Farzan. The victim secretly took Farzan's father-in-law's mobile phone, called her mother and narrated her ordeal. The mother of the victim girl called the police who recovered the victim girl and arrested the accused.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The element in this particular case demonstrates that the Muslim perpetrator committed the crime while harbouring a bias against the Hindu faith is that the Muslim perpetrators forced the Hindu victim to convert to Islam and perform Nikah with him against her will. In such cases, a non-Hindu man is in a relationship with a Hindu woman when the pressure to convert her religion begins to manifest. The relationship in such cases is mostly consensual and the religious identity of the perpetrator is known to the Hindu woman in the relationship, however, at some point during the relationship, the non-Hindu man starts to force the victim to convert her religion and give up her Hindu religious identity. In such cases, the methods used to force the victim to convert her religion often revolve around force-feeding beef, forcing her to wear hijab, forcing her to read the Kalma or even pressurizing the victim to do ‘Niqah’, which is marriage under Islamic law, with a prerequisite being conversion to Islam. Cases where a Hindu woman consensually converts to Islam in a relationship will be left out of the hate crime database, even though it could be argued in several cases that the conversion was a result of religious brainwashing. Since the religious motive of the crime is evident from the above-stated fact, this case has been documented as a hate crime.
