Case Summary

In the Lambaharisinh town of Malpura sub-division, the Shri Baba Ramdev temple was vandalised and looted. The elderly caretaker, Ratan Jat, who was staying at the temple, was assaulted by the robbers, and ₹5,000 was looted from him. The thieves targeted the storeroom located in the temple premises. Items were scattered, and they demanded the keys to the donation box from Ratan Jat. When he refused, they beat him and snatched ₹5,000 from his pocket. After the robbery, the assailants attempted to throw the elderly man into a well near the temple. However, his life was saved at the last moment when a sound alerted the criminals, causing them to flee. Station House Officer Rajkumar Birla confirmed that information about the incident was received. At the time of writing this report, there was no official confirmation of theft.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

Desecration of a Hindu temple is, in itself, a grave affront to the Hindu faith. Temples are not merely places of gathering, but are considered sacred abodes of divinity. Damaging idols, religious symbols, or structures within the temple violates the sanctity of the space and deeply offends the religious sentiments of devotees. In this case, Shri Baba Ramdev temple was vandalised and a caretaker was assaulted. This raises suspicion and cannot be dismissed as random. However, since the primary action appears to be theft, and in the absence of explicit evidence that the act was motivated by religious hatred or an intent to insult the faith, this case is currently being placed under the Undecided category. If further information emerges indicating a religious motive, it may be reclassified accordingly.
