Case Summary

In Khipro, Sanghar, Sindh, a 10-year-old Hindu boy, Ram Lal Meghwar, son of Harlal Meghwaar was assaulted and gang raped by a group Muslim men. The young Hindu boy was tied with a rope by a Muslim man named Tahir Qaimkhani, who, with the assistance of eight others, subjected the child to horrific assault and brutal gang rape. As of the date of writing this report, a case was registered by the police, and two of the accused were arrested. This case is tragically part of a wider, heartbreaking reality for many Hindu families in Pakistan. Young girls, women, and even boys are often targeted, abducted, sexually assaulted, and forcibly converted, simply because of their faith. For these families, every day is lived in fear, knowing the law offers them little protection. The silence of authorities and the failure of the justice system deepen their pain, leaving victims and their loved ones feeling abandoned and powerless. These aren’t just statistics—they are real people whose lives are shattered while the world looks away.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

This case has been added to the tracker under the primary category of: - Attack not resulting in death. Within it, the sub-category selected is: Attacked for Hindu minority. In several cases, Hindus are attacked merely for their Hindu identity without any perceived provocation. A classic example of this category of religiously motivated hate crime is a murder in 2016. 7 ISIS terrorists were convicted for shooting a school principal in Kanpur because they got ‘triggered’ seeing the Kalava on his wrist and tilak that he had put. In this, the Hindu victim had offered no provocation except for his Hindu religious identity. The motivation for the murder was purely religious, driven by religious supremacy. Such cases where Hindus are targeted merely for their religious identity would be documented as a hate crime under this category. This case has been added to the tracker due to the persistent and targeted harassment that the Hindu minority faces in Pakistan. In this particular case, a minor Hindu boy was assaulted and gang-raped by a group of Muslim men, purely on account of his vulnerable identity as a member of a marginalised religious community. This incident is not isolated—it reflects a deeply entrenched pattern of religiously motivated violence against Hindus in Sindh. Hindu boys, girls, and women are frequently subjected to brutal acts including sexual violence, abductions, and forced conversions. These attacks are often driven by belief of religious supremacy in Islam where lives of Hindus are considered inferior, which can be violated with impunity. The lack of legal protection, complicit silence of the authorities, and systemic failures of the judicial system perpetuate a climate of fear and injustice. Such cases illustrate how Hindu minorities in Pakistan are deliberately targeted for their faith, reinforcing the urgent need for international scrutiny and pressure to ensure the safety, dignity, and human rights of these vulnerable communities.
