Case Summary

In Guwahati, Assam, a case of suspected 'Love Jihad' surfaced when 26-year-old Anju Dorji was found dead under suspicious circumstances on November 12, 2023. Police investigation revealed it as a murder case. Subsequently, on November 19, 2023, the police arrested Mani Khan, who was in a live-in relationship with the deceased despite being married and having a child. Anju, originally from Bokajan, resided in a rented flat in the Six Mile area of Guwahati. Her body was discovered after a foul smell emanated from her flat, indicating she had been dead for 2-3 days. The police initiated an investigation, registering a case against the unknown assailant. During investigation, police came to know about Mani Khan, originally a resident of Barpeta district. Mani Khan was in a live-in relationship with the deceased for a long time. Mani Khan's phone was switched off since the day of the incident. Since then he had not even returned to the flat. The police examined the CCTV footage installed in and around the flat. Later, after collecting other evidence, Mani Khan was arrested from Dispur.
