Case Summary

In Sikri village of Basti district, Uttar Pradesh, a 17-year-old minor Hindu girl was lured and abducted by a Muslim youth named Salman, which sparked communal tension in the area. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, the accused, who also belonged to the same village, abducted the girl on 15 August 2025 at around 6 a.m. Despite the gravity of the incident, the police took no significant action for four days, which led to growing anger among the villagers. Frustrated by the delay in response, villagers took to the streets and began protesting, blocking the Sumhi Sauraha road and demanding strict action against the accused. Following this, Inspector-in-Charge of Gaur police station, Parmashankar Yadav, reached the spot and assured the protestors of strict measures. The police told the protesters that a case had already been registered, and an investigation was underway.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

In this case, a minor Hindu girl was lured and abducted by a Muslim man.
