In Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old married Hindu woman was lured away by a Muslim man named Shahrukh. According to media reports, on 28th July 2025, the victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Vindhyachal police station, stating that Shahrukh had lured and kidnapped his married daughter. He also said that she was being pressured to convert to Islam. As soon as the complaint was received, the police registered a case and began their investigation. Following this, on 29th July 2025, the police team led by Sub-Inspector Shashi Bhushan received information from an informer that the accused was present near Gaipura Tiraha. The police acted swiftly, surrounded the area, and arrested Shahrukh. A case was registered against the accused under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021. In addition, relevant sections of the BNS were also applied. After the arrest, the accused was interrogated at the police station. Following the preliminary investigation, he was sent to jail.
