Case Summary

In Sanjeevnagar Colony, located in the Trans Yamuna area of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a 16-year-old Hindu girl was sexually assaulted and raped by a Muslim youth and his two accomplices who barged into her house. The father then called the police, who arrived promptly and arrested the main accused. The girl’s father submitted a written complaint, and the police conducted a medical examination of the girl, which confirmed injury marks on her hands and body. The victim’s family also stated that, following the incident, members of Aslan’s family pressured them to reach a compromise and threatened them not to file a case. A case was registered against Aslan under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115(2) for attempted murder, Section 351(3) for indecent behaviour with a woman, Section 74 for rape, Section 64(1) for house trespass, and Section 333 for conspiracy and participation in an offence. Since the victim was a minor, a case under the POCSO Act was also registered. Following this, the police launched an investigation to apprehend the other two accused.

Why it is Hate Crime ?
