Such slurs and denigration stem out of inherent animosity and hate towards Hindus and their faith, therefore, it is categorised as hate speech targeted at Hindus specifically owing to their religious identity. In this case, Aman Sharma used abusive language against Hindu deities. Deities are an integral part of Hinduism. They are not abstract concepts but deeply revered divine beings and are worshipped with profound devotion. Mocking or abusing Hindu deities is not merely an insult to individual beliefs—it is an attack on the very foundation of the Hindu faith and identity. When someone deliberately uses obscene or degrading language against these deities, it constitutes a targeted attempt to humiliate and provoke an entire religious community. Such acts are not expressions of dissent but of hatred aimed at violating the sanctity of what Hindus hold most sacred. Therefore, when Hindu deities are ridiculed in public, especially through social media, it fulfils the conditions of a religiously motivated hate crime, as it seeks to devalue the community’s faith through mockery and abuse, purely on the basis of their religious identity.
