Cow remains found in village well in Madhya Pradesh

Case Summary
In Siya village, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, the remains of cows were discovered in a village well, leading to widespread outrage in the area. Hindu villagers protested and informed Hindu organisations. Subsequently, a group of villagers went to the BNP police station to demand strict action against the culprits. Local BJP leaders were also notified and took the incident seriously. BJP leader and former chairman of the Dewas Development Authority, Rajesh Yadav, arrived at the police station and stated that the remains of three or four cattle were found inside the well. Following this, the police registered a case. Two individuals were arrested. The police began a search for the other suspects. Meanwhile, administrative action was taken against the accused, with bulldozers used to demolish their illegal constructions. In a joint operation, the police and administration demolished these illegal structures. Local authorities stated that strict measures were being taken to maintain law and order and to act against those who hurt the religious sentiments of local Hindus by slaughtering cows. Amit Solanki (station in-charge), Sapna Sharma (tehsildar), Ramesh Kaushal, and Hindu organisation activists were present at the scene.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The cow is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. Often, cows are slaughtered and smuggled illegally by non-Hindu perpetrators as a mark of insult to the Hindu faith. There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter and smuggling are used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef) and desecrate temples. In all cases of cow slaughter or smuggling, there is a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus working as a motivating factor. However, in the absence of any concrete indication in this particular case, this case is being categorised as Undecided. If more details emerge, then it would be reclassified under the Hate Crime database.
