Minor Hindu girl abducted and trafficked from Budaun by Muslim youth
Case Summary
In the Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh, a 15-year-old Hindu girl was lured, abducted and trafficked by a Muslim man named Muzikkar. According to the victim's father, her daughter was kidnapped on June 9, 2025, from her house. He reported that a Muslim youth named Muzikkar had lured her daughter and abducted her, and sold her somewhere in Tamil Nadu. Along with the girl, Rs 25,000 in cash and some household jewellery were also stolen from their house. An FIR was registered by the police against Muzikkar and two of his accomplices, named Pappu and Mamta. The accused are involved in the trafficking of girls. As of the date of writing this report, the investigation was ongoing, and efforts were underway to rescue the kidnapped girl. Frustrated by police inaction, the girl’s family, accompanied by members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, organised a protest outside the Kadar Chowk police station. Protesters raised slogans against the police administration and sat on a dharna at the police station gate. The situation remained tense until police officials intervened and assured that the girl would be recovered soon and the accused would face legal action. The family also expressed anger over the fact that some suspects who were detained were later released due to the intervention of a local political leader. Local Hindu organisations warned of launching a large-scale movement if the girl is not safely recovered in the immediate future.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a minor Hindu girl was lured and abducted by a Muslim man named Muzikkar. The case potentially reflects religious profiling, as several past instances have demonstrated a recurring pattern in which the Muslim perpetrators have targeted Hindu women and Hindu girls with coercion, deception, or force, often with the intention of conversion, sexual exploitation or trafficking. Furthermore, the local reports suggested that the accused was already involved in the trafficking of girls. However, due to the lack of direct evidence at present confirming a religious motive in this specific instance, the case is currently listed under the 'Undecided' category in the Hinduphobia tracker. It is also important to note that the victim's father has not indicated any religious motive in his complaint. Thus, without any further concrete evidence, such as proof of coercion, force, or religious targeting, the case will remain in the ‘Undecided’ category. If further information emerges that hints towards a religious motivation behind this crime, then it would be classified accordingly under the Hate Crime database.
