Hindu woman driven to attempted suicide after being raped under marriage pretext and force-fed beef by Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh

Case Summary
In Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman belonging to the Dalit community was raped several times under the pretext of marriage by a Muslim man named Mukeem. She stated in the complaint that the accused, who was a quack doctor and a resident of Rasulpur village, had promised to marry her daughter. The accused took the young woman to a hotel in the town several times after luring her, where he raped her forcibly. During this time, when the young Hindu woman became pregnant, the accused got her abortion done. When the Hindu victim became suspicious of the man, she went to his house and insisted on being married. Mukeem's family then demanded that she eat beef as a condition for the marriage. Following this, she was force-fed beef by them. After this, his family sent her home with the assurance that she would marry him in a few days. However, some time later, the woman learned that Mukeem was already married and had a child. This information left her mentally shattered, and she decided to end her life by committing suicide. Her mother learned of the incident in time and immediately informed other family members. The girl's father, who lived in Delhi, immediately returned home and filed a complaint at the local police station, pleading for justice. The police immediately registered a case and began an investigation. Rae Bareli Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Sinha stated that the accused, Mukeem, had been arrested and sent to jail.
