Case Summary
In the Ramganga Vihar area of Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman was deceived into a relationship, blackmailed, and pressured for religious conversion by a Muslim man named Shahrukh, who pretended to be a Hindu man. According to reports, the Hindu woman, a resident of the Ramganga Vihar area, was targeted by the Muslim accused, Shahrukh, a resident of Gajraula town in neighbouring Amroha district and the son of a former Congress city president. Shahrukh came into contact with the victim through social media, where he introduced himself online as a Hindu man named Ashish. He initiated contact with the victim and deceived her into an intimate relationship by faking a Hindu identity. After gaining her trust, he sexually exploited her and secretly recorded private photographs and videos. Subsequently, Shahrukh began threatening to leak her private images online and pressured her to convert to Islam and enter into nikah with him. During this period of coercion, the victim discovered the accused’s real identity and that he was a Muslim. The victim informed her family about her ordeal, after which her mother confronted and scolded the accused. Despite this, the accused continued to intimidate the victim, threatening to make her private photographs and videos viral. Acting on a written complaint submitted by the victim’s family, the Katghar police registered a case against the accused. The police arrested Shahrukh and produced him before the court, from where he was remanded to judicial custody. As of the date of writing this report, the investigation was ongoing.
