Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, the Hindu woman was in a relationship with the Muslim man willingly. There was also no deception involved since from the available information, it appears like the Hindu victim was aware of the religious identity of the perpetrator. Later, however, the victim was murdered when she found out about the perpetrator already being married with a child. In several similar cases, the religious motivation of the perpetrator was evidenced, since the Muslim man believed it was his right to maintain multiple relationships in accordance with Sharia. However, in this case, there is no indication available to prove a religious motive for the murder. If more information surfaces, the case would be added to the hate crime tracker.
