Case Summary

In Chirawa, Jhunjhunun, Rajasthan, a victim was abducted from the Mandrella police station area and taken to Hisar, Haryana. The accused, including Imran, his brother Anwar, and a cleric, forcibly married her in Hisar and sexually assaulted her repeatedly. A case was filed at Mandrella police station, and the victim's statement was recorded at Chirawa court on March 28. Initially, Imran contacted her on Instagram under a Hindu name, later sending obscene messages and videos. He coerced her into sending explicit content and kidnapped her at gunpoint on March 12, along with Anwar and the cleric. The trio knocked her unconscious and took her to an unknown location. Imran married her in a Hindu ceremony while she was unconscious, then incapacitated and sexually abused her. She escaped on March 16 and was found by her family and police in Hisar.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

When a non-Hindu man pretends to be a Hindu to deceive a Hindu woman into a relationship, the act is seen as triggered by malafide intentions. In some cases, the woman eventually accepts the man’s original religious identity and converts after the man’s identity is revealed. He purposely married her as per Hindu rituals to deceive the Hindu girl. Further, he kidnapped her at gunpoint and sexually assaulted and tortured the victim. Since the religious motive of the crime is evident from these facts, this case has been documented as a hate crime.
