Case Summary
In the Jobat area of Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, a minor tribal Hindu girl was lured, sexually exploited, and subjected to coercive religious conversion by three Muslim men. According to reports, the incident occurred on 30 November 2025 within the jurisdiction of Jobat police station. The three Muslim men named Amjad, Imran, and Ahmed Sheikh lured the minor Hindu girl to their home under the false pretext of offering her a job. During this time, she was physically assaulted and pressured to convert to Islam, following which the primary accused, Amjad, raped her. On the basis of the victim’s statement, a case, FIR No. 498/2025, was registered by the police under the stringent provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Subsequently, all three accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. During the investigation, it was found that Amjad possessed a passport and a licensed firearm, and that Imran also held a passport. In view of the gravity of the offence and the risk to public safety, the Alirajpur police initiated administrative proceedings by sending formal reports for the cancellation of the passports and arms licence.

Such actions stem from inherent hostility towards the victim's professed faith since Abrahamic faiths believe that any non-adherent to the faith is subject to being dehumanised till they convert. Therefore, religious conversions, even of minors, are often seen as a badge of honour, totally disregarding the methods used to achieve it. Since such predatory actions stem from doctrinal animosity towards the Hindu faith and its adherents, this case is being documented as a religiously motivated hate crime.
