When locals learned of this incident on 11th December 2025, they were outraged by the hurt religious sentiments, leading them to complain to the Kotwali police station. Based on a complaint from local resident Gajanan Patle, the police registered a case of hurting religious sentiments and began investigating the matter. Kotwali Police Station in-charge Kamesh Kumar Dhumketi stated that given the seriousness of the matter, the police took swift action and hoped to apprehend the perpetrator soon. He added that the police talked to local residents and reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area, and achieved considerable success.
