Hindu cab driver stabbed to death by Muslim youth over minor dispute in Delhi
Case Summary
A 27-year-old Hindu cab driver, Kuldeep alias Ram Singh, was stabbed to death by a group of men near Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in southeast Delhi. The victim was a resident of Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh. Police registered a murder case after receiving a PCR call early on 3rd December 2025. A Muslim youth named Imran, along with 3 other minors, was arrested in the case. Investigators reviewed extensive CCTV footage—more than 500 cameras—and a recording from a camera near a public lavatory close to Jain Mandir in Bhogal provided the first significant lead. Using this footage, along with technical and human intelligence, police identified those involved. During their interrogation, the accused said that after celebrating Imran's birthday, the group wanted to go to India Gate. Near the lavatory in Bhogal, they got into a quarrel with Kuldeep. The accused first claimed that there was an altercation over urinating, but that turned out to be false. Under the influence of alcohol and in a fit of rage, they stabbed Kuldeep when he refused to drive them to India Gate, the DCP said. They committed the murder between 4 am and 5 am. Police said the four took the cab for the joyride they had wanted and then left the car by the roadside in Jangpura. The victim’s car, was recovered along with blood-stained clothes and the weapon of offence. Police arrested Imran panwadi, a 19-year-old with past involvement in theft and snatching cases, and also apprehended three minors linked to the incident.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a Hindu youth was stabbed to death by four men in Delhi. The nature of the assault, over a minor dispute, raises serious concern about possible religious animosity as the underlying motive. The brutality of the attack suggests that the Muslim perpetrators may have harboured deep-seated animosity towards the victim, potentially driven by religious bias or hatred. Such excessive violence often reflects underlying communal hatered. Numerous documented instances show Muslims targeting Hindus with hostility rooted in disdain for the Hindu community and faith. Many communal attacks by Muslims against Hindus stem directly from such religious hatred, rendering this incident a strong candidate for hate crime classification. There is a well-documented precedent where hostility towards the Hindu community has played a significant role in similar violent incidents. These acts are rarely isolated instances of violence but rather stem from entrenched religious intolerance and animosity, fitting into a broader pattern of anti-Hindu hatred. However, in this specific case, there is currently no direct evidence to indicate that the attack was premeditated or motivated by religious hatred. No religious slurs or statements against the victim were made during the incident, and the investigation so far has not revealed any prior connection or animosity between the accused and the victim. Since there are currently no clear indicators of religious motivation in this case, and neither the victim nor his family nor media reports have suggested such a motive; therefore, the case has been added to the Undecided database. If any further evidence emerges confirming a religious motive, then the case would be reclassified accordingly and added to the hate crime database. Disclaimer- While this tracker acknowledges that four individuals have been accused in this case and the identity of the three minors is not known. For documentation purposes, the religion of the perpetrators has been recorded as Muslim since the primary accused, Imran Panwadi, is confirmed to be Muslim. The religious identity of the other three men has not been independently verified at the time of documentation. However, given that they were also complicit in the attack, the case is recorded under a single perpetrator religion for consistency in categorisation. This approach ensures clarity in data representation without overlooking the involvement of other accused individuals.
