Hindu woman deceived, sexually exploited and pressured for religious conversion by Muslim men posing as Hindu
Case Summary
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a Hindu woman was deceived, sexually exploited and pressured for religious conversion by two Muslim men, Aamir Ali and Sufiyan Ansari. The accused were pretending to be Hindus to befriend the victim. According to reports, the victim initially came into contact with Sufiyan Ansari at a café in 2021, who introduced himself as a Hindu man named Mohit. They began talking to each other and developed a relationship. On 6 March 2022, the accused went to her flat in Mahalaxmi Nagar and forcibly raped her. When she resisted, he threatened to make her photos and videos viral, and based on that, he raped her on multiple occasions. He also extorted nearly ₹5 lakh from her. Later, she came into contact with another Muslim man named Aamir Ali, who introduced himself as a Hindu man named Amar. In 2025, she discovered that his real name was Aamir alias Golden and that he was a Muslim, due to which she cut off all contact with him. However, Aamir repeatedly pressured her to meet him. On 23 July 2025, he took her to a hotel, where he raped her by using the photos and videos that Sufiyan had as leverage. After this, he called her to the hotel several times, raping her multiple times. He also took ₹1 lakh from her along with her Activa scooter, which he never returned. The victim further stated that Sufiyan possessed a fake Aadhaar card, operated a fake Instagram account, and uploaded photos and videos of himself holding a pistol. He threatened to bury her in a graveyard if she resisted or spoke out. It was also revealed that she was pressured to convert to Islam by the perpetrators. The victim filed a complaint, with the assistance of Karni Sena officials Mansingh Rajawat, Nitin Thakur and others, at the Lasudia police station, following which an FIR was registered against Sufiyan Ansari and his accomplice Aamir Ali. Police records showed that Sufiyan had previously been imprisoned for attempted murder.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
This case has been added to the tracker under the primary category - Crimes against women in relationships and other sexual crimes. Within it, the subcategory selected is: Man pretends to be Hindu. The tertiary category under this is: Name Changed. When a non-Hindu man pretends to be a Hindu to deceive a Hindu woman into a relationship, the act is seen as triggered by malafide intentions. In some cases, the woman eventually accepts the man’s original religious identity and converts after the man’s identity is revealed. These cases could be argued as cases of religious brainwashing and a result of the pressure a woman feels after getting into a relationship with a man. The woman, it can be argued, also changed her religious identity because of the stigma she believes she might face if she chooses to walk out of a deceptive relationship. However, for the purpose of documenting hate crimes, the cases in this subcategory are limited to those where there is explicit violence aimed at religious conversion against the wishes of the victim (force-feeding beef, blackmailing with intimate videos, rape on refusal to convert, etc), or if the woman herself complains of the man’s religious deception. In such cases, it is established that the deception of the non-Hindu man had a specific aim of religious conversion or targeting of the victim due to her Hindu religious identity, therefore, making it a religiously motivated hate crime. Another subcategory under this is: Brainwashed and/or groomed. The tertiary category under this is: Rape and sexual assault/harassment. In several cases, a Hindu woman and/or minor is sexually harassed and/or assaulted with a religious motive. For example, in a case in Kausambi, UP, a Hindu girl was raped by non-Hindu perpetrators. During the assault, the victim pleaded to 'spare her in the name of Bhagwan'. The perpetrators then asked her to plead in the name of Allah. This clearly indicates a religious motive for the crime and evidences the religious animosity the perpetrators harbored against the victim owing to her religious identity. Such cases would be added to this tertiary category since the religious animosity makes the crime a hate crime. The other primary category selected here is - Predatory Proselytisation. Within it, the sub-category selected is - Harassment, threats, coercion for conversion. Harassment covers a wide range of behaviours of an offensive nature. It is commonly understood as behaviour that demeans, humiliates, and intimidates a person, including threats and coercion. Harassment and threats, in this case, find their root on discriminatory grounds which has the effect of nullifying a person’s rights or infringing upon his freedom to exercise his right specifically owing to the victim’s religious identity. Verbal and physical threats and psychological or physical harassment are often used against Hindu victims because they choose to practice their professed religion. Religious harassment also includes forced and involuntary conversions by harassment, threats or coercion. Coercion includes intimidatory tactics like force-feeding a Hindu victim beef to convert to another religion, forceful circumcision etc. In several cases documented, non-Hindu perpetrators or those who harbour specific animosity towards Hinduism, harass victims simply based on their religious identity. Such cases often also include harassment to ensure the Hindu victim abandons his/her professed religion and adopts the religion of the perpetrator. Such cases where Hindu victims are harassed to convert to the perpetrator’s religion are rooted in animosity towards the victim’s religious identity and are therefore documented as religiously motivated hate crimes. This case has been added to the tracker because a Hindu woman was lured into a relationship by two Muslim men, who faked their Hindu identity, to sexually exploit and pressure the victim for religious conversion. Firstly, the perpetrators deliberately concealed their religious identity to initiate and sustain a relationship with a Hindu woman. This itself is a clear manifestation of bias and malicious intent towards the victim's religion. By concealing their true identity, they exploited her trust, targeting her under false pretences. This indicates a premeditated intent to manipulate her based on her religious background. In cases like these, the tactic of adopting a false Hindu identity to manipulate and "ensnare" a Hindu individual is not just an act of personal betrayal but can also be interpreted as an expression of disdain or disregard for Hinduism and its customs that reflects a deeper animosity towards Hindus and their beliefs. Secondly, the Muslim perpetrators recorded obscene videos of her, and based on them, they raped her on multiple occasions. These sexual exploitation and blackmail were not random acts of crime; rather, they functioned as religiously motivated tools aimed at humiliating and dominating a Hindu girl because of her faith. The target was not the victim as an individual, but her Hindu identity. The specific focus on her Hindu identity in the commission of these acts highlights the religious hatred underlying the crime, making it a religiously motivated offence. In such cases, sexual violence and blackmail serve a dual purpose: physical subjugation and religious humiliation. The intention was to break the victim down, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, so that she could be converted. This was not random violence; it is systematic, targeted, and rooted in religious animosity. Thirdly, she was also pressured to convert to Islam by the perpetrators. Pressuring a Hindu individual to discard her religious faith and embrace another is a direct attack on her religious identity and dignity. It was not a matter of personal choice; it was coercion rooted in hostility towards the victim's Hindu identity. Such an attempt reflects religious animosity because the act is not simply about personal differences but about erasing the victim’s Hindu faith, making it a religiously motivated crime. These actions stem from inherent hostility towards the victim's professed faith since Abrahamic faiths believe that any non-adherent to the faith is subject to being dehumanised till they convert. Such acts are not merely personal crimes; they are rooted in a desire to dominate and erase the religious identity of the victim. Since such predatory actions stem from doctrinal animosity towards the Hindu faith and its adherents, this case is being documented as an instance of religiously motivated hate crime. Therefore, it is being added to the hate crime database of the Hindupohobia Tracker. Disclaimer: The Hinduphobia Tracker records the date of the incident based on when the crime occurred. The media reports published this case on 30 November 2025. However, the media reports do not specify the exact date of the beginning of the victim’s ordeal. The victim came in contact with the accused in 2021, and on 6 March 2022, the accused raped the victim. Considering these two pieces of information, we are using an indicative date of 6 March 2021 as the date of the incident. This date is used for documentation purposes only and represents the estimated beginning of her ordeal.
