Case Summary
In Bareilly, Hindus, including children, were targeted for Christian conversions. The victims were lured and converted under the guise of prayer meetings. After realising what had happened, he reached out to the police for help. According to Gulshan Bahadur, Pastor Prem Jonal and his companions lived in a rented room in Munshi Nagar and held prayer meetings every Sunday. When he went there, he saw many children, teenagers, women, and men attending the meeting. The three accused gave him religious books and persuaded him to embrace Christianity. Gulshan stated, "I also sat there, and the pastor gave me a religious book, saying he would initiate me. After this, he made me declare that I accept Christianity. I kept repeating what he said. Later, all three told me to attend the meeting every Sunday." Reports also state that the three accused converted many Hindus in a similar manner. The Hindu attendees were offered various incentives and were indoctrinated with the help of Christian texts to adopt Christianity. On the complaint of Gulshan, the police acted swiftly and arrested the three perpetrators. The police also recovered a large quantity of Christian religious texts and materials from the accused.
