Minor Hindu girl lured by Muslim man pretending to be Hindu, forced into prostitution

Case Summary
A young Muslim man, Raja, posing as a Hindu, deceived a 16-year-old married girl from Bihar. The girl, who had been married two years prior in Begusarai, encountered Raja at her in-laws' residence, which he visited frequently. He lured her away from her in-laws' house on December 10th. Following her disappearance, the girl's parents and in-laws filed a missing person report with the police. Raja subsequently transported the girl to Delhi, where he subjected her to forced prostitution for five days. Following the death of his uncle, Raja took the girl to his village, where she discovered his true religious identity. Upon protesting this deception, Raja subjected her to physical abuse. He then contacted Vijay Sharma from Bulandshahr and sold the girl to Banwari's family in Sambhal for Rs 1.5 lakh, arranging a marriage ceremony in a Dharamshala. Three days before her rescue, the girl managed to secretly contact her father using her brother-in-law's mobile phone, disclosing her harrowing experience. Upon receiving this information, Bihar Police initiated action, tracing the call's location and conducting a joint raid with local police. They successfully rescued the girl; however, the family who had purchased her had fled.
Why it is Hate Crime ?

When a non-Hindu man pretends to be a Hindu to deceive a Hindu woman into a relationship, the act is seen as triggered by malafide intentions. In some cases, the woman eventually accepts the man’s original religious identity and converts after the man’s identity is revealed. These cases could be argued as cases of religious brainwashing and a result of the pressure a woman feels after getting into a relationship with a man. The woman, it can be argued, also changed her religious identity because of the stigma she believes she might face if she chooses to walk out of a deceptive relationship. While every case of conversion of a minor and incidents of establishing a physical relationship with a minor by an adult is a crime, for the purpose of this database, a case would be considered a hate crime only if there is a distinct religious angle to the grooming. This indicates a premeditated intent to manipulate her based on her religious background. In cases like these, the tactic of adopting a false Hindu identity to manipulate and "ensnare" a Hindu individual is not just an act of personal betrayal but can also be interpreted as an expression of disdain or disregard for Hinduism and its customs that reflects a deeper animosity towards Hindus and their beliefs, and this is why this case has been added here. Notably, the victim in this case was a minor, which means the element of consent and genuine change of conscience was missing ab initio. Minors, due to their young age and lack of maturity, are particularly vulnerable to manipulation and coercion. They may not have the ability to fully understand the implications of converting to another religion and the Muslim perpetrator purposely targeted and exploited this vulnerability of the victim. Since the religious motive of the crime is evident from these facts, this case has been documented as a hate crime.
