Minor Hindu girl lured and abducted by Muslim man

Case Summary
An 11-year-old Hindu girl was lured and taken away by a man named Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Labaha Station under Roshna police station. Her mother stated Tariq had trapped her daughter using mobile communication and persuaded her to flee with him. The mother said that some villagers had also assisted in the abduction. The mother searched extensively for her daughter but was unable to locate her, prompting her to file a formal complaint at Mansahi police station. In the complaint, she also mentioned that her daughter had taken ₹10,000 in cash and some jewellery from their home before leaving. The police initiated an investigation into the incident. Tensions arose in the village due to the involvement of individuals from two different communities, leading to unrest and anger among residents.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
Since the victim in this case is a minor, there is a strong suspicion of grooming involved. Grooming is a phenomenon where Muslim men specifically target minor non-Muslim girls for sexual exploitation, abuse and rape. However, since there is no specific evidence of a pattern of victimisation of Hindu minors by the perpetrator and no indication that she was targeted for her religious identity, this case is being categorised as 'undecided'. If more information emerges, it will be added to the hate crime database.
