Case Summary
On March 17, 2024, in the Sangamner region of Maharashtra, a 17-year-old Hindu girl was teased, harassed, and molested by a 36-year-old individual who was identified as Imran Sayyed. The accused blocked the minor’s way to her college and followed her on the streets. He used to tease her and make her feel uncomfortable. In the FIR filed on March 20, the victim girl also stated that she was molested by the accused. She described him as a man wearing a kurta and a round Islamic cap on his head, post which, the Police booked an ‘unknown’ individual in the case under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act. Further investigations are underway after the accused's identity was revealed.

In this case, the Muslim perpetrator sexually abused and exploited a minor Hindu girl. Since the victim in this case is a minor, there is a strong suspicion of grooming involved.
