Why it is Hate Crime ?
There are several incidents where the Muslim perpetrator purposely spits in the food or at Hindus owing to their intrinsic religious animosity towards the Hindu faith and those professing it. It is a doctrinal fact that, according to Islam, spitting can "ward off Satan" and according to the same religious doctrine, non-Muslims are considered the manifestations of Satan. There is, therefore, a strong suspicion that the perpetrator in this case spat in the food owing to religious animosity. However, since no such statement has been made by the police or the news reports, this case is being categorised as undecided. If more information emerges, it would be added to the hate crime database. Disclaimer: It is important to clarify that the report does not specify the exact date when the Muslim man spat in the food. Therefore, for documentation purposes, we have recorded the date when he was arrested by the police.
