Three Muslim men arrested in Deeg for cow smuggling after months-long investigation

In Rajasthan’s Deeg district, police apprehended three Muslim individuals for cow smuggling. The arrests made were the outcome of a long-standing investigation dating back to an incident in September 2024. The individuals taken into custody were identified as Mustaq, Alim, and Noor Mohammad. The original incident occurred in the forested area near Chapra village, where the three accused had slaughtered a cow. Upon receiving the tip-off, police from the Pahari police station rushed to the spot. However, the accused managed to flee through the forest, abandoning weapons, beef, and a motorcycle at the site. The police subsequently seized around 50 kilograms of beef, slaughter tools, and the vehicle. Intensive questioning in the village led to the identification of the accused, and a case was registered against them. A search had been underway since then. Police received information that the accused had returned to their village. A team, acting swiftly, surrounded the area and successfully arrested all three. The suspects were under interrogation, and efforts were underway to uncover the broader network associated with them. Station Officer Yogendra Singh stated that the operation was conducted under a zero-tolerance policy towards cow slaughter and smuggling. He added that the police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the racket, with the aim of dismantling the entire network.
