Hindu girls lured into physical relationships, blackmailed and pressured to convert; Muslim accused posed as Hindu, used images of Hindu deities to trap victims

Case Summary
In Morena, Madhya Pradesh, Aslam Khan operated a computer coaching centre under the false name "Abhi" and presented himself as a devotee of Mahakal, using images of Hindu deities to gain the trust of Hindu girls attending his classes. He befriended the students under this assumed identity, then established physical relationships with them and secretly recorded obscene videos. These videos were later circulated online, with more than two dozen such recordings reportedly shared. Aslam Khan is a native of Bhind. He came to Muraina and established a computer coaching centre named Insaniyat, one and a half years ago. He concealed his Muslim identity and introduced himself as Abhi. He presented himself as a devotee of Mahakal. In his centre, he placed multiple images of Hindu deities to gain the trust of Hindu girls. He used to befriend Hindu girls and lured them into a physical relationship. These scenes were secretly recorded. With those recordings, Hindu girls were blackmailed to convert to Islam. Aslam Khan’s accomplice, a student at the centre, acted as a lookout outside the classroom while the abuse took place inside. Police arrested both Aslam and his associate after receiving complaints. During the investigation, authorities found an Aadhaar card and a bank account in Aslam Khan’s name, confirming his real identity. CCTV footage obtained by Hindu organisations showed Aslam engaging in inappropriate acts with a student on a mattress inside the centre. Several of the victims were minors who had come to learn computer skills. The case further revealed that Aslam Khan’s business partner, Pradeep Sharma, discovered the abuse after students informed him about suspicious activities. Sharma checked a hidden camera’s memory card, which contained recordings from 1 to 4 May, 2025, while earlier footage had been deleted by Aslam. Also, one of the victims told her ordeal to the Hindu Jagran Manch's activist Devendra Mudgal. He, along with his associates, informed police and Aslam was arrested. According to a Hindu activist, Aslam was a part of a big transnational racket. According to them, these people open computer centres and coaching institutes in different cities under a false name. They lure and brainwash Hindu girls. After that, they are forced to convert and do a nikah. At the time of writing this report, Aslam was arrested, and police were investigating the matter.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
This case has been added to the tracker un the primary category of - Crimes against women in relationships and other sexual crimes. The sub-category selected here is - Man pretends to be Hindu, and with the tertiary sub-categories being - Name Changed and Pattern of targeting Hindu women. When a non-Hindu man pretends to be a Hindu to deceive a Hindu woman into a relationship, the act is seen as triggered by malafide intentions. In some cases, the woman eventually accepts the man’s original religious identity and converts after the man’s identity is revealed. These cases could be argued as cases of religious brainwashing and a result of the pressure a woman feels after getting into a relationship with a man. The woman, it can be argued, also changed her religious identity because of the stigma she believes she might face if she chooses to walk out of a deceptive relationship. However, for the purpose of documenting hate crimes, the cases in this subcategory are limited to those where there is explicit violence aimed at religious conversion against the wishes of the victim (force-feeding beef, blackmailing with intimate videos, rape on refusal to convert, etc), or if the woman herself complains of the man’s religious deception. In such cases, it is established that the deception of the non-Hindu man had a specific aim of religious conversion or targeting of the victim due to her Hindu religious identity, therefore, making it a religiously motivated hate crime. The other sub-category selected is- Brainwashed and/or groomed, and with the tertiary sub-categories being - Pattern of targeting Hindu minors and Rape and sexual assault/harassment. In our database, we have not added incidents where women have converted to another religion of their free will and no allegations of forced/involuntary conversion have been made. However, there are certain cases of conversion where the consent itself is a result of the brainwashing or grooming of a minor by the non-Hindu perpetrator trying to victimise a woman for her Hindu religious identity. The phenomenon of grooming points to non-Hindu perpetrators identifying their Hindu victims’ vulnerabilities and exploiting them over months and sometimes years, to extract the supposed ‘consent’ in order to convert their religion. In most cases of grooming, the victims are minors or the grooming started when the victim was a minor. In other cases of grooming, the non-Hindu perpetrator brainwashes and grooms a minor victim to extract their trust and then proceeds to rape them repeatedly with the intent of converting them to their faith. It is pertinent to understand here that when the victim is a minor, the ‘consent’ to convert or enter into a romantic relationship with an adult itself is redundant – addressed by POCSO. While every case of conversion of a minor and incidents of establishing a physical relationship with a minor by an adult is a crime, for the purpose of this database, a case would be considered a hate crime only if there is a distinct religious angle to the grooming. For example, in the UK, if a Hindu minor is targeted by Pakistani grooming gangs, it would be considered a hate crime because the victims are specifically targeted owing to their non-Muslim religious identity with the perpetrators being Muslim. In other cases, if a Hindu minor is brainwashed into entering a physical relationship with the non-Hindu adult perpetrator and the family alleges grooming/brainwashing of the minor to convert her religion, it would form a part of this database. If the victim is a Hindu adult, the case would form a part of this database only if the victim herself says that she was brainwashed/groomed to convert her religion. However, if the victim is deceased (murdered or otherwise), the case would form a part of this database if her family/friends provided testimony that the victim was brainwashed/groomed to convert her religion. Since these crimes have a distinct religious angle where the victim is being targeted owing to her Hindu religious identity, these cases are considered a hate crime. The other sub-category selected is- Blackmailed to convert. When Hindu women are in a relationship with non-Hindu men, there are cases where the woman is blackmailed to convert her religion, owing to her religious identity of being a Hindu. Such relationships may be consensual with the religious identity of the non-Hindu man known to the victim, however, there could be cases where the relationship is not consensual and the non-Hindu man starts blackmailing a Hindu woman to convert her religion. In these cases, it is often seen that the Hindu woman is blackmailed with intimate photos and/or videos, threats of harm to her or her family, threats of violence etc. Such cases are driven by specific religious motivations and against the religious identity of the victim and are therefore qualified as hate crimes. This case is categorised as a hate crime due to the clear pattern of religious deception, grooming, and blackmail with the specific aim of converting Hindu girls and minors. Aslam Khan, under the false identity of "Abhi" and presenting himself as a devotee of Mahakal, used images of Hindu deities to gain the trust of Hindu girls attending his computer coaching centre. He befriended the students, lured them into physical relationships, and secretly recorded obscene videos. These recordings were then used to blackmail the victims, pressuring them to convert to Islam. The deliberate act of concealing his religious identity and using religious symbols to deceive and exploit Hindu girls demonstrates a targeted and malicious intent based on the victims' religious identity. The case further fits the pattern of hate crimes involving brainwashing and grooming, as Aslam Khan systematically targeted Hindu women and minors over an extended period. The involvement of an accomplice as a lookout, the use of blackmail with intimate videos, and the reported pressure to convert make it clear that the exploitation was not random but directed specifically at individuals because of their Hindu faith. Here, it is also important to mention that reports suggest that the victims included minor Hindu girls. This means the element of consent and genuine change of conscience was missing ab initio. Minors, due to their young age and lack of maturity, are particularly vulnerable to manipulation and coercion. They may not have the ability to fully understand the implications of converting to another religion, and the Muslim perpetrator purposely targeted and exploited this vulnerability of the victim. Such actions, where deception, grooming, and coercion are used to force religious conversion, are recognised as hate crimes due to their religious motivation and the pattern of targeting a particular community.
