Maulana brainwashes Hindu man to embrace Islam, unable to bear the pressure/harassment son commits suicide

Case Summary
In Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, a Hindu named Harishankar was brainwashed by a Muslim cleric to convert to Islam. Harishankar worked in a bank and resided along with his family in Bareilly. According to Harishankar’s family members, a Maulana paid frequent visits to their home. Over time, the Maulana started brainwashing Harishankar and he started having arguments about conversion with his family. Harishankar also began offering Namaz in secret. On April 13, Shri Krishna, Harishankar's son had a heated fight with his father. He consumed poison in a fit of rage and died in the hospital. Amit Pandey, the in-charge of the Baradari police station, confirmed that the matter is under investigation, and appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law. He noted that the victim's family had not filed a formal complaint.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a man was converted to Islam by a Maulana. There is a suspicion that it was by brainwashing, however, there is no specific allegation to that effect. It is entirely possible that the conversion of willing. Further, the son of the man committed suicide after a heated exchange with the father who had converted to Islam. Tragic as it is, the son's suicide does not qualify as a hate crime because there is no information about the son himself being forced to convert to Islam. This case is therefore being added to 'undecided'. If more information emerges, it would be added to the hate crime database.
