Case Summary

In Nainital, Uttarakhand, a Hindu woman was targeted, deceived into a relationship, and her private videos were made viral by a Muslim man named Mohammad Arif. The accused had pretended to be a Hindu to lure her into his trap. According to reports, Mohammad Arif, a resident of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, befriended the Hindu woman through social media by introducing himself as a Hindu man. Gradually, over the course of several months, the accused lured and developed a close relationship with the victim through conversations and repeated phone calls. The accused, who had been working in the Ramgarh area of Nainital for some time, travelled to Mukteshwar multiple times to further deepen the relationship. During this period, he manipulated her, extracted personal videos, and secretly recorded obscene footage during some of their calls without her knowledge. The accused later made these videos viral on social media. Once the video went viral, the victim contacted Hindu organisations in the region, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, who helped her file a complaint with the police. Hindu organisation confronted the Bhawali police station and demanded immediate action, stating that Arif had concealed his identity, targeted a local woman, and compromised the sanctity of Devbhoomi by engaging in such acts. The police confirmed that the obscene video had gone viral days earlier, and after the complaint was filed on 10 November 2025, a search operation was launched to nab the accused, who was absconding. As of the date of writing this report, police were working to track the accused, monitoring the movement of those associated with him. Police also stated that further legal action would follow after the arrest of the accused.
