Hindu woman turns pregnant after being raped by Muslim man, family threatens to murder when confronted for marriage
Case Summary
A 19-year-old Hindu woman from a village in the Dindori Kotwali area, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, was raped by a man from a neighbouring village who lured her with a false promise of marriage. The man, identified as Sabin, entered her house under the pretext of visiting and sexually assaulted her. The woman later became pregnant. Two months after the incident, her health deteriorated, and when she was taken to the hospital, doctors confirmed her pregnancy of around ten weeks. When she informed her family about the assault, her father and brother confronted the accused’s family to discuss marriage, but they refused. On the evening of October 18, 2025, the woman’s father and brother again went to meet the accused Sabin and his relatives to seek justice. However, they were abused and beaten by Sabin, Shakib, Firoz, and Hasina. The accused also threatened to kill them if they pursued legal action. Following the complaint, police registered a case against all four accused. The police stated that all accused would soon be arrested and presented before the court.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
This incident demonstrates severe criminal misconduct involving sexual violence, deceit, and intimidation, yet it retains certain ambiguities that prevent its immediate classification as a religiously motivated hate crime. The known facts, however, reveal characteristics often observed in cases where Hindu women are entrapped by Muslim men through false assurances of marriage and emotional coercion, sometimes leading to sexual exploitation and pregnancy. In the present matter from Dindori, the accused, Sabin, entered the home of a 19-year-old Hindu woman under a fabricated pretext and raped her. He continued to mislead her with the promise of marriage, causing prolonged distress and eventual physical harm. The case reflects a broader pattern of predatory conduct marked by manipulation and abuse of trust. Although there is, at this stage, no direct evidence of conversion attempts or ideological intent, the circumstances suggest a possibility of targeted exploitation influenced by the victim’s religious background. The case, therefore, belongs within the “undecided” category: it displays several indicators consistent with religiously tinged exploitation but lacks definitive proof of a hate-driven motive. Further inquiry into the accused’s affiliations, communications, and prior conduct would be essential to determine whether deeper communal or ideological elements were involved. Should further investigation reveal attempts at conversion, affiliations with networks involved in targeting Hindu women, or ideological motivations rooted in religious hostility, the case could be reclassified accordingly. Disclaimer: The date of the incident has been estimated as 18 August 2025, approximately two months prior to 18 October 2025, based on the report stating that the assault occurred two months before the victim’s health deteriorated. This date is used only for contextual clarity and may not represent the exact day of the incident.
