Hindu woman sexually harassed, her brothers physically assaulted by Muslim men in Uttar Pradesh

Case Summary
In Khurja, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman was molested by a group of Muslim men. When the victim’s brothers rushed to save her, they were also physically assaulted. The Hinduphobia Tracker contacted the police in this case, and they confirmed that the victim is a Hindu woman. The incident took place at around 9:50 p.m. on 26th September 2025, when the woman was returning home after visiting a local fair. Near her house, four to five men from the Muslim community began molesting her. Some of the perpetrators were residents of Foota Darwaza in Khurja Nagar. Hearing the woman’s screams, her two brothers arrived at the spot. When they intervened to stop the molestation, the accused attacked them both. The brothers sustained serious injuries during the assault. The injured woman and her brothers then went to the police station to lodge a complaint. The police sent both brothers for medical treatment to Jatia Hospital in Khurja, from where they were referred to a higher medical centre in Bulandshahr due to the severity of their injuries. Both brothers were discharged from the district hospital on 30th September 2025. The woman submitted a written complaint regarding the incident on 29th October 2025 at Khurja Nagar Police Station. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against four Muslim men and others involved in the assault. The victim also stated that the accused had threatened to kill her brothers. She further mentioned that the men were known to be habitual offenders and might carry out more criminal acts in the future.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a Hindu woman was molested by Muslim men, and her brothers were assaulted when they attempted to protect her. There is a strong possibility that the Hindu woman was religiously profiled and targeted specifically for her Hindu identity. This suspicion arises in light of several past incidents where Hindu women were similarly targeted for sexual assault by Muslim men driven by deep-seated religious animosity. It is therefore plausible that, even in this instance, the woman was attacked because of her religious background. The fact that her brothers were also assaulted strengthens this suspicion, as in many previous cases, Hindu men who tried to protect Hindu women from sexual violence perpetrated by Muslim men were also brutally assaulted. Hence, this incident bears clear indicators of a potential religiously motivated attack. However, it is also possible that the assault occurred due to opportunistic circumstances rather than overt religious targeting. The Muslim perpetrators may have molested the woman simply because they found an opportunity to do so, and assaulted her brothers out of retaliation when they resisted, without any direct religious motivation. While some may argue that the targeting of a Hindu woman and her brothers inherently demonstrates religious bias, there is, as of now, no conclusive evidence proving that religious animosity was the primary motive behind the crime.
