Case Summary

In Indore, Hindu girls were targeted for sexual exploitation by Muslim brothers Shadab Ali and Mohammad Ali. According to reports, the victim, who lived in Indore, began receiving messages from an unknown number, which was operated by the accused, Shadab Ali. He did not reveal his name, and despite receiving no response, continued to message her. Frustrated by the harassment, the victim contacted Karni Sena member Mansingh Rajvansh, who was also a family member. Following this, the accused was called to meet the victim, which was a trap laid by the Karni Sena. When the accused came, he was apprehended and handed over to the police. Investigations revealed that Shadab Ali, a resident of Semalpani, Madhya Pradesh, had been working as a truck driver for a long time. His brother, Mohammad Ali, had encouraged him to trap Hindu girls by claiming that he would get rewards for trapping and raping girls and would command more respect within the Muslim community. Following his brother's instructions, Shadab Ali used Instagram to contact numerous Hindu girls and began sending obscene messages to them. The accused had previously served three months in Sehore jail in a similar case. During police questioning, Shadab Ali confessed that his brother had provided him with the numbers of many Hindu girls and repeatedly filled his mind with thoughts of trapping and raping Hindu girls. When the police arrested Shadab Ali, chats of many Hindu girls were found, with him using different names to deceive them.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

The primary category in this case is: Crimes against women in relationships and other sexual crimes. The first subcategory under this is: Man pretends to be Hindu. The tertiary category under this is: Name changed and Pattern of targeting Hindu women. When a non-Hindu man pretends to be a Hindu to deceive a Hindu woman into a relationship, the act is seen as triggered by malafide intentions. In some cases, the woman eventually accepts the man’s original religious identity and converts after the man’s identity is revealed. These cases could be argued as cases of religious brainwashing and a result of the pressure a woman feels after getting into a relationship with a man. The woman, it can be argued, also changed her religious identity because of the stigma she believes she might face if she chooses to walk out of a deceptive relationship. However, for the purpose of documenting hate crimes, the cases in this subcategory are limited to those where there is explicit violence aimed at religious conversion against the wishes of the victim (force-feeding beef, blackmailing with intimate videos, rape on refusal to convert, etc), or if the woman herself complains of the man’s religious deception. In such cases, it is established that the deception of the non-Hindu man had a specific aim of religious conversion or targeting of the victim due to her Hindu religious identity, therefore, making it a religiously motivated hate crime. This case has been added to the tracker because a Hindu girl was lured into a relationship by the Muslim accused, who pretended to be Hindu. The accused deliberately concealed his religious identity and targeted several Hindu girls for sexual exploitation, which was revealed through chats on his phone. This itself is a clear manifestation of bias and malicious intent towards the victim's religion. By concealing his true identity, he wanted to exploit the victims' trust and attempted to target them under false pretences. This indicates a premeditated intent to manipulate the victims based on their religious background. In cases like these, the tactic of adopting a false Hindu identity to manipulate and "ensnare" a Hindu individual is not just an act of personal betrayal but can also be interpreted as an expression of disdain or disregard for Hinduism and its customs that reflects a deeper animosity towards Hindus and their beliefs. The accused specifically targeted Hindu girls for sexual exploitation, which is rooted in religious animosity towards the Hindu community. In Islamic theology and social practice, Hindu women are often viewed with disdain, treated as objects lacking dignity, and considered legitimate targets for exploitation. This is why the brother, Mohammad Ali, explicitly stated that Shadab Ali would gain greater respect within the Muslim community if he profiled the victims based on their Hindu identity, further underlining the communal nature of the crimes. This indicates that the acts were not isolated incidents but part of a deliberate pattern of exploiting Hindu girls, rooted in hostility towards the Hindu community. Disclaimer: The Hinduphobia Tracker records incidents based on when the victim’s ordeal began. However, in this case, the report does not provide specific details regarding when the accused trapped the victim, though it is mentioned that he was messaging the victim for the last 15 days. Therefore, for documentation purposes, the date of the incident has been recorded as August 27, 2025. Disclaimer: Although only one accused. Shadab Ali was arrested by the police; his brother Mohammad Ali was also involved in the crime. Therefore, the number of perpetrators has been recorded as two.
