A Hindu woman was brutally assaulted after she mistakenly entered a Muslim-majority area. The incident took place on August 28, 2025, in the Naya Purwa locality of Basti, Uttar Pradesh. The victim has been receiving treatment at the district hospital in Basti, where she has been admitted for the past week. Meanwhile, police arrested four men and one woman from Naya Purwa on charges of disturbing public peace. They were produced before the Harraiya Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s court and subsequently sent to jail. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Subhash Maurya, additional names may surface as the investigation continues.
