Minor Dalit Hindu girl raped; her family assaulted by Muslim accused and his relatives

Case Summary
In the Lar suburb of Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu Dalit minor girl was attacked by a Muslim youth named Sariq. The victim’s family was also assaulted by the accused and his relatives. According to media reports, on the complaint of the victim’s mother, the police registered a case against four people under several sections of the BNS. The incident took place on 22nd August 2025, when the Muslim accused dragged the victim to his house and raped her. When the victim’s family reached the accused’s house to rescue her, they too were beaten up. As soon as the police received information about the incident, they reached the spot. The victim was then taken to the One Stop Centre in Deoria for medical examination and counselling. Based on the complaint, the accused Sariq, Guddu, along with Sariq’s parents and brother, were named in the FIR. Local residents stated that there had been a long-standing dispute between the two families. The police took the accused into custody and began investigating the case.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a Hindu minor girl was abducted by a Muslim man. After abduction, she was raped by the accused.
