Case Summary

In the Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow, a 19-year-old Hindu girl was lured, kidnapped, and raped by a Muslim man named Anas Siddiqui. According to reports, on August 3, the girl left her home to go to a beauty parlour. When she did not return home till evening, the victim's family tried to locate her but to no avail. The victim's brother then approached the police two days later and filed a complaint stating that a Muslim man named Anas Siddiqui had lured away his sister, along with one of his accomplices. The victim's family also suspected that the Muslim accused would force the victim to convert to Islam and have a relationship with him. Acting swiftly, the police formed a special team, and with the help of surveillance and local inputs, rescued the victim within 48 hours. The victim confirmed that she was raped by the accused, after which the police registered a case under serious sections, including rape, kidnapping, and serious offences. As of the date of writing this report, the accused was arrested by the police, produced before the court, and sent to judicial custody. The investigation was ongoing.
