A Hindu girl named Sarita was lured away by a Muslim man named Irfan Mohammad. The accused had taken the victim to Maharashtra for the purpose of religious conversion. According to the reports, the victim is the daughter of Prabhudei and Kalicharan from Madaripur Majre Himmatgarh village in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh. The parents of the victim stated that the girl was lured away and taken to Maharashtra by Irfan Mohammad, also known as Sonu, who was attempting to forcibly convert her. They also stated that the accused had lured the girl into a relationship. After Sarita disappeared, her mother searched for her extensively. During her search, she discovered that Irfan had taken Sarita to Mumbai and was forcing her to convert to Islam. Upon learning this, Prabhudei filed a formal complaint at Sangrampur police station on 24th July 2025, affirming that her family belongs to the Kurmi caste and practices Hinduism. The police, led by Amethi Circle Officer Manoj Kumar Mishra, took immediate cognisance of the matter. A case was registered under relevant legal provisions at the Sangrampur police station. A team was sent to Mumbai to locate and recover the girl, and coordinated efforts were underway at the regional level.
