Why it is Hate Crime ?
The sheer brutality with which the cow was slaughtered by the Muslim perpetrators on a Muslim man's farm raises serious concerns about religious animosity towards Hindus as a possible motive behind the crime. There is historical precedent of Muslim perpetrators engaging in cow slaughter with the intent to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. This occurs because, in Hinduism, the cow is regarded as sacred and holds deep religious and cultural significance. Even throughout history, there have been numerous documented instances where cow slaughter has been used as a means to insult Hinduism, forcibly convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef), and desecrate Hindu temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, suspicion remains that religious animosity towards Hindus is a motivating factor. However, in the absence of any concrete evidence that this particular crime was religiously motivated, the case is currently being categorised under the 'Undecided' database. If any further details emerge that demonstrate that religious animosity was indeed a motivating factor, it will then be reclassified and added to the hate crime database. Disclaimer: Media reports state that Sahil, Majlis, and Budh Singh, along with other members of the Muslim community, were involved in the crime. However, as the exact number of perpetrators is not specified, we are taking a conservative estimate and recording the perpetrator count as '3'.
