Hindu leader's house and family attacked, miscreants try burning her and her minor daughter by pouring petrol

Case Summary
In Ramnagar, located in Nainital district, a group of youths led by a Muslim youth named Danish attempted to set a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) woman worker on fire outside her house by dousing her with petrol. They are also accused of throwing petrol on another woman and her minor daughter while they were on their way to the market, attempting to set them ablaze. The incident has sparked panic in the area. The accused were said to be in an inebriated state. According to reports, in Indira Colony, Ramnagar, the accused first poured petrol outside a house near the residence of VHP's district vice president, Kalpana Verma, and set it on fire, seemingly to create chaos. Subsequently, they attempted to burn a woman and her minor daughter alive by throwing petrol on them. However, the woman managed to escape with her daughter, saving their lives. The attack caused a wave of fear and outrage in the locality. Following the incident, VHP workers gathered at the police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Expressing his discontent, VHP district minister Suraj Chaudhary condemned the act, stating that anti-social elements were deliberately trying to disrupt the city's peace. However, he asserted that VHP workers would not tolerate such acts under any circumstances. The victim later filed a formal complaint with the police. Speaking on the matter, Kotwal Arun Kumar Saini confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused, and assured that swift action would be taken. He further emphasised that the police would deal strictly with those responsible for such crimes and that all perpetrators would be apprehended soon.
