Unknown miscreants kills a cow by attacking on its neck with a sharp weapon, throws the carcass

Case Summary
In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, some miscreants killed a cow and threw its carcass. The cow's neck was attacked with a sharp weapon. The cow is the most sacred animal to the Hindu community so the news of the killing of the cow spread like fire in the entire city. Hindu organisations reached the spot and protested. Hindu organisations were angry with the increase in incidents of cow slaughter in Bareilly. On 24th January 2025, someone killed a cow-calf and threw it in the New Model Railway Colony of Izzatnagar police station area. As soon as the news spread, workers of Hindu organizations reached the spot and informed the police. BJP leader Mintu Singh complained about this incident on Twitter and CM Yogi Adityanath, DGP, UP Police, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Bareilly Police, demanded strict action against the accused and the police registered a case.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The cow is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. Often, cows are slaughtered by non-Hindu perpetrators as a mark of insult to the Hindu faith. There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter is used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef) and desecrate temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, there is a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus working as a motivating factor, however, in the absence of any concrete indication, this case is being categorised as 'undecided'. If more details emerge, it would be added to the hate crime database.
