Two cow smugglers caught by public transporting beef in Bareilly

Case Summary
A case of cow slaughter came to light in Bareilly when locals caught two smugglers carrying sacks containing beef near Singhai Murawan Blue Bird School in the Bhuta police station area. Upon being confronted, the smugglers attempted to flee. The public managed to catch one of them after a chase, while the other escaped. When the sacks were checked, beef was found inside. This led to the public beating up the captured smuggler. Members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, led by District President Himanshu Patel, arrived at the scene and demanded strict action against the culprits. The police were informed and reached the location. After taking samples of the beef, the district administration disposed of it by burying it. Himanshu Patel highlighted the increasing incidents of cow slaughter in the region and urged the authorities to take strong measures to prevent such activities.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The cow is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. Often, cows are slaughtered by non-Hindu perpetrators as a mark of insult to the Hindu faith. There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter is used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef) and desecrate temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, there is a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus working as a motivating factor, however, in the absence of any concrete indication, this case is being categorised as 'undecided'. If more details emerge, it would be added to the hate crime database.
