Case Summary

A Hindu woman was lured away and abducted by a Muslim man in Chandausi, Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in the Baniyather police station area of Chandausi tehsil, where the woman's family stated that the Muslim accused, Yasir, the son of Jafaruddin from Mohammadpur Vawde, took their daughter along with gold earrings, a gold necklace, a silver anklet, and ten thousand rupees in cash. According to the father, who worked as a labourer in Himachal Pradesh, Yasir had been troubling the girl on the road and tried to force phone conversations with her. When the family complained to his relatives, he became hostile and warned that he would take the woman away. On 18 November 2025, at about eleven in the morning, the woman's mother found her missing. After searching the village and finding no trace of her, the family concluded that Yasir had lured her away. The father returned from Himachal after hearing the news. He went to Yasir’s house, where his family insulted the woman's father, abused him, and pushed him out. Yasir’s relatives denied any connection with the Hindu woman and said he had only gone out somewhere. Police officials stated that the case is under investigation. Initial review suggested that the incident may not fall directly within the station’s jurisdiction, but officers said all details would be examined carefully.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

In this case, the details show a situation where a Hindu woman was lured away by a Muslim man. The victim's family stated that he had been troubling her earlier. Her father said the man often tried to talk to her against her wishes and had warned that he would take her away. The disappearance, along with missing jewellery and cash, raises clear concerns about whether she left under pressure or manipulation rather than by choice. At the same time, there is no information about the woman’s age or her own statement. If she is an adult, she has the legal right to make her own decisions about relationships and movement. Without hearing from her directly, it is difficult to know whether she went willingly or whether she faced any form of pressure. Adults can still experience subtle coercion or emotional influence, so the circumstances need careful and balanced review. The accused man’s family categorically denied any involvement in the incident. The police acknowledged that parts of the report lack clarity and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. These gaps require a cautious approach, particularly in cases where Hindu women may face social or community vulnerabilities. While the victim's father’s statements are important, they cannot be accepted unquestioningly without the victim’s own testimony. Social stigma and shame often influence such statements from relatives. Additionally, the victim's father did not provide any indication that the crime was religiously motivated. As there is currently no direct evidence of religious animosity driving the crime, and the woman’s account is unavailable, this incident cannot be classified as a hate crime at this stage. It has been placed in the Undecided database pending further information or the victim’s statement. Should new evidence emerge indicating religious animosity as a motive, the case will be added to the Hate Crime database of the Hinduphobia Tracker.
