Hindu girl targeted and deceived by Muslim man faking Hindu identity in Bhopal
Case Summary
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, a Hindu girl was targeted and deceived by a Muslim man named Danish Khan, who posed as a Hindu. The incident came to light on 21 November 2025, when members of a Hindu organisation raided a flat in the Ayodhya Nagar area and intercepted the Muslim man, Danish Khan, a resident of Shahjahanabad. The Hindu activists stated that they had been receiving continuous information that the accused was approaching Hindu women under a fabricated Hindu identity and forming romantic relationships. On the day of the incident, Hindu activists received specific information that he was going to visit a nursing student at her flat. As soon as Danish arrived, the activists entered the premises and detained him, while informing the police. During this time, the accused introduced himself as a Hindu man named Deepak Yadav in an attempt to mislead them, but when the police arrived and examined his documents, his actual identity was revealed, that his name was Danish Khan, and he was a Muslim. Three young girls were inside the flat, including the nursing student originally from Shahdol who was studying in Bhopal. Members of the organisation stated that they had been aware for some time that Danish was attempting to form relationships with Hindu women using this false identity. As of the date of writing this report, the accused was taken into custody for further investigation. The police stated that the investigation was ongoing and there were in process of recording victim's statement. Police also stated that further legal action would be taken after investigation.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
This case has been added to the 'Undecided' database due to the lack of credible evidence confirming that the accused deceived the Hindu girl. This could potentially be a crime motivated by religious profiling, as it has been observed in several instances where Muslim perpetrators have targeted Hindu women due to animosity towards Hindus and their faith. Hindu women and girls remain particularly vulnerable to crimes such as sexual exploitation and coercion by Muslim men, often committed with an underlying intent of religious conversion. It may very well be the possibility that Danish became frightened after being confronted by the members of the Hindu organisation, thus he pretended to be Hindu, as he was with a Hindu girl. It is also plausible that the girl was fully aware of Danish's religious identity and was in a consensual relationship with him. However, it is equally important to note that there was a lack of information about whether the victim was an adult or a minor. If she were an adult, she would be legally capable of making her own decisions regarding her personal relationships. She has the legal right to choose her partner, elope, adopt any religion, and marry as she wishes, provided her actions are consensual and free from force, duress, deception, or coercion. Conversely, it is also possible that Danish had initially concealed his identity and lured the girl under false pretences. His giving a false name during the confrontation might have been an attempt to avoid suspicion or detection by the girl or others. Nevertheless, this remains speculative, as the case details provide no clear indication of religious motivations. For this reason, this case has been added to the 'Undecided' database. If further information emerges that hints towards a religious motivation or confirms the deception under the false identity, this case would be reclassified and moved to the Hate Crime database.
