In Narwar city, a cow was sexually assaulted by a Muslim man named Itkar Ali of West Bengal. Police stated that a property broker, Pradeep Prajapati, was travelling with his friend Ankit Chaudhary on the night of 13th September 2025, when they saw the accused committing the act in front of Narwar Pride Colony. They recorded the incident on video, but when they attempted to stop him, he fled into the darkness. After the video spread on social media, several local Hindu groups expressed anger and demanded strict action. Police responded by arresting the accused and parading him through the town. Following the incident, there was significant resentment among community members, who viewed the act as serious and unacceptable.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The cow is considered sacred in Hinduism. It is not just an animal but a manifestation of sacredness that is worshipped and treated as a nurturing mother (gaumata) across various Hindu traditions. Any act of harm or desecration directed towards the cow is therefore experienced by Hindus not merely as animal cruelty, but as a direct assault upon religious identity and spiritual values. Historically, violence or desecration involving the cow by non-Hindu perpetrators has often been understood within Hindu consciousness as an expression of hostility or contempt toward the faith itself. Such incidents tend to evoke profound moral and emotional responses because they violate both ethical and sacred norms central to Hindu life. In this case, a Muslim man was seen sexually assaulting a cow, an act that has caused deep public outrage and protest from residents and Hindu organisations.
