Beef seized from car in Bhopal, second case within 50 hours; accused absconding
Case Summary
On 5th October 2025, Bajrang Dal workers in the Parvaliya police station area intercepted a suspicious car and conducted a search, during which they recovered a severed cow head, hide, and pieces of beef from the vehicle. The driver fled the scene, prompting the workers to create an uproar on the spot. Hindu organisations expressed strong outrage over the incident and raised slogans demanding "hang them." They insisted that police must investigate where the cow was slaughtered, where the beef was being transported, and who was involved in the operation. Notably, just two days earlier, on 3rd October 2025 in Bhopal, a case emerged involving the slaughter of 10 cows, from which more than 5 quintals of beef had been recovered. The emergence of this second case within 50 hours caused alarm within the police department. Parvaliya police registered the case and initiated an investigation, forming a team to identify and arrest the driver. Police examined all aspects to determine how the beef was reaching Bhopal.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The seizure of beef in this case raises strong concerns about religious animosity towards Hindus as a potential motive behind the crime. In Hinduism, the cow is regarded as sacred and holds deep religious and cultural significance. Often, cows are slaughtered by non-Hindu perpetrators as a mark of insult to the Hindu faith. There have been several documented cases throughout history where cow slaughter is used as a method to insult the Hindu faith, convert Hindus (by force-feeding beef), and desecrate Hindu temples. In all cases of cow slaughter, there is always a suspicion of religious animosity against Hindus as a motivating factor. However, due to the absence of any concrete evidence that the crime was religiously motivated, this case is being categorised under the 'Undecided' database. If more details emerge that demonstrate religious animosity as a motivating factor behind the crime, then it will be added to the hate crime database.
