Minor Hindu girl first harassed and then assaulted by Muslim youth in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh
Case Summary
A minor Hindu girl from Kutubpur village under Mirapur police station in Muzaffarnagar district was harassed by a Muslim youth from the same village who molested her about a week earlier from the publication of the report. Under pressure from influential villagers, her family agreed to a compromise at that time. Despite the settlement, on 4th October 2025, the same youth intruded into the victim's home and beat her severely, leaving her seriously injured. She remained hospitalised for two days, undergoing treatment. Swami Yashveer Maharaj, Peethadheeshwar of Yog Sadhana Yashveer Ashram in Muzaffarnagar, reacted strongly, accusing the police administration of inaction. He stated that even after two days of the assault, Mirapur police had not registered the minor Hindu girl's complaint, noting continuous attacks on Hindus in the area without justice. He warned that if police failed to register the case and send the accused to jail immediately, he would sit on a dharna outside the accused's house with the poor Hindu family. He clarified that gangsterism and jihadi mentality would not be tolerated at any cost. Residents of the area expressed widespread outrage, with everyone demanding justice for the victim's family.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a Hindu minor girl was subjected to harassment and physical assault by a Muslim man. Even after intervention from village elders and settlement of the harassment case, the Muslim man again targeted the girl and assaulted the victim within her own house. In several documented cases, Muslim perpetrators have targeted minor Hindu girls, reflecting animosity towards Hindus and their faith. Hindu girls are particularly vulnerable to crimes such as sexual assault and molestation by Muslim men. At the same time, it is possible that this crime was opportunistic, with the Hindu girl simply being accessible to the perpetrator. Here, one could argue that a Muslim girl would generally be more accessible to a Muslim man than a Hindu girl. However, this remains speculative, as the case details provide no conclusive evidence of a religious motive. Neither the victim nor the media reports suggested any religious motivation behind the crime. For this reason, the case has been added to the 'Undecided' database. If further information emerges that points towards a religious motivation behind this crime, it would then be reclassified and included in the hate crime database. Disclaimer: The Hinduphobia Tracker records incidents based on when an event occurred or when the victim's ordeal began. It is important to clarify that none of the media sources covering this case has specified the exact date when the victim was first targeted, only giving a range of a week before the publication of the report. Therefore, for documentation purposes, we have recorded the date based on one week before the incident was reported in the media, 1st October 2025.
