Case Summary

In the Ramnagar city of Nainital district, Uttarakhand, a Hindu girl was deceived, sexually exploited and pressured for religious conversion by a Muslim man named Anees, who faked a Hindu identity. According to the complaint filed by the victim's mother, the accused, a resident of Dhikuli, lured and befriended the victim by introducing himself as a Hindu man named Sonu. Gradually, he gained her trust and began sexually exploiting her under the false pretext of marriage. When the marriage was about to reach its conclusion, the victim learned of the accused's real identity and that he was a Muslim. When she confronted him, the accused began blackmailing her and pressuring her to convert to Islam. He also continued to harass her. Distressed by the deception, the victim told her family about her ordeal. Subsequently, the victim's mother filed a complaint with the Ramnagar police. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under sections related to rape and religious conversion and arrested the accused. He was later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
