Why it is Hate Crime ?
Suspicion of why it may be a hate crime: There have been several such cases in which a Muslim man pursues a Hindu woman for a relationship. Thereafter, the woman is forced to convert to Islam. When there is pressure from the Muslim perpetrator on the Hindu women to marry him, often, the pressure is to do a Nikah, since theologically marriages in Islam can only take place between two Muslims. In this case, there is no direct allegation that the woman was being forced to Nikah, however, precedence and a string of such cases raise suspicion. This case will be added to the hate tracker database if and when there is any evidence to substantiate the religious motivation of the crime.
